These fish are a great learning toy. I made them for Bella when she was about 8 months old. I would put them in one of my large bowls and ask her for a color and she would retrieve that one for me. Of course it started with me handing them to her and telling her what color they were. I made ten to help with counting too.
The pattern was really simple and the poor fish looked so plain. The had the tiniest little tails and no fins at all. So I adjusted the pattern for the tail so it would be bigger, and free-handed all the fins. So each one is unique and Bella loves them to this day.
